Very good experience when scouting for rates and details. Affordable rates .
The destination area (Panama City) had two earthquakes Friday OCtober 9 2026. Also hurricane storm Isasias was threatening the East Coast. The trip to Panama was canceled due to the earthquakes in Panama along with aftershocks and possible tsunamis according to the media report.
I had a medical emergency while travelling which required me to seek medical evaluation and to change travel plans. I'm including the rough timeline because it is important to understand the insufficient response by Trawick. For context - I was in severe pain during all of these events.
Friday around 8am: I contacted Trawick International (phone) before going to the emergency room and was told to just let them know afterwards what I was diagnosed with and how they could help.
Friday around 1pm: I contacted Trawick 24 hour International (phone) immediately after the evaluation and discussed that I needed to fly back to the US ASAP to avoid potentially having to undergo surgery abroad and that I couldn't sit for prolonged periods of time and needed an upgrade to business class. The customer service rep asked me to send flight itineraries and passport copies as well as the medical report. I sent the documents via email.
Friday around 2.30 pm: The "medical team" called me (phone), reviewed the medical report, asked me some medical questions and told me they would approve the earlier return in business class, as well as wheelchair assistance.
Friday around 6pm: the travel department contacted me (phone) and asked me if I could take flights back home in a couple of hours. I wouldn't have been able to be at the airport in time and the travel agent told be he would look for flights the next day and call me back.
We packed our suitcases and I slept next to my phone in order to leave any time. There was no call but an agent did send an email at 2.30 am asking us if we could take a flight at 6am. I did not see that email until 4.30 at which point it was not possible to get to the airport in time.
Saturday around 6.30am: I contacted the travel department explaining that I had been told someone would call me should there be a flight available short notice and didn't see the email in time. The travel agent said "no problem" we'll get you on a flight later today or tomorrow morning.
Saturday around 11 am: I received an email with 2 flight options for the next morning (Sunday) and a travel agent called me to confirm which flight I would be choosing. I chose one flight and the travel agent told me she would be sending over the necessary travel documents.
Saturday around 7pm: I called the travel agency since I had not received any travel documents at this point. I was informed that the travel documents for my companion were ready but for me documents were missing and without them Trawick would not be able to book the flights. I asked which one they were and was told it was my original flight itinerary. I sent the document immediately. Since I didn't hear back I called 30 minutes later. I then was told that a "fit for flight" document was missing. I told the agent that the original physician's letter included that assessment. She told me that was not enough and I needed a separate document. I asked why I wasn't told about that earlier (by now more than 36 hours had passed since my first contact) and that it would be really difficult to obtain such document at 8 pm on a Saturday night. She told me she didn't know why this was not communicated earlier but that I couldn't fly without. I told her I would get the letter to her shortly (I was going to go back to the emergency room to obtain the letter). A few minutes later she called me back and told me that Trawick had just decided that my case was denied because the MRI was not only showing the fresh injury causing my problems but also older degenerative changes and therefor I was excluded for pre-existing conditions in the 120 days look back period. I explained that I had had absolutely no problems within that look back window and in fact never had had a MRI of that area of my body. I also explained that at a certain age it was not surprising to find degenerative changes on MRIs. If Trawick does take such changes as pre-existing conditions they should simply not insure anyone over a certain age. I received a lengthy email informing me in legal language that Trawick would not cover any cost for my journey back. I went on to re-book my original flight by myself since at this point I just needed to get back home for emergency treatment.
1. Why did Trawick did not request all necessary documents when I talked to them repeatedly on Friday ?
2. Why did Trawick kept me under the impression they would cover my return to the US ? They send me 3 different sets of flights over the time of 24 hours, only to deny coverage last minute.
3. chronic changes in MRIs not necessarily equate pre-existing conditions, they are rather normal in advanced ages
4. would I have known Trawick would deny my case I could have organized an earlier return on my own. I basically lost 48 hours since I assumed Trawick was organizing my return home.
Summary - don't use Trawick if you are older than 20 years or have a whole body MRI with absolutely no abnormalities. Don't trust Trawick if they pretend they will help you - they probably just buy time to deny your request 36 hours later.
I was concerned about the wild fires in Canada so, I called and talked with customer service. He was great, he answered my questions to the best of his ability and when I still had questions, he connected me with the insurance company. I felt comfortable with their answers.
The travel agency failed to secure our airline tickets purchased in January 2026. We only learned that they had not gotten our tickets for us about 10 days before our trip and we had to buy another two tickets through another airline and it cost $500 more. The Trawick rep said this was not covered by our policy but I was hoping it might.
If Trawick is the company name for Square Mouth, I did call them to get help adding a day to our coverage. We changed our flight to be a day early. They were very helpful and changed it as we needed.
very friendly service
I am very pleased with the service provided by Trawick International,

the policy documents state that the deductible is $100. I submitted two claims that totaled more than $100 but individually were less than $100. They applied the deductible to both claims and did not pay me anything. Furthermore, they told me the denial for the one claim was because of the deductible and then when I questioned it, they said it was because I didn’t provide enough documents. I’m totally getting the runaround.
It was easy to choose the right travel insurance for my trip. I called Trawick International after my original purchase of the policy and easily raised the trip coverage amount. I didn't have a claim but I do recommend Trawick International.
