The agent was very pleasant and helpful informing me how to file the claim.
We canceled our trip prior to our planned departure. This date was about a week after the “start” of coverage because the insurance was purchased over 1 year prior to a specific tour, and we expected to add pre and post tour elements. Hence, when we filed a claim, our “cancellation “ date was after the policy “start” date and that caused confusion. The Travel Insured Customer Service was outstanding.
It appears that a third party is evaluating my claim. It is not good. I created booked our itinerary that included trans Atlantic flights, 2 flights within Europe, a tour, a few hotels or Air BnBs, and car rentals. The claim I created online identified losses on only 3 elements of our 9 element itinerary. I attached email confirmations and cancellations, and credit card statements of payments. I attached the entire itinerary that showed costs and reimbursements for every element - and it showed loss in the same 3 elements.
My first several contacts with the claim evaluator clearly indicate they did not read the online claim. She asked for supporting material for many itinerary elements where I made NO claim for reimbursement. She must have started by scanning the credit card statements, and deciding that anything that looked like travel was in my claim. She asked about our trans Atlantic flight backup, but we made NO claim for them. She asked about a European flight that was on the credit card statement for another reason but not even an element in our itinerary.
All this happened via email and voicemail. It was hard to talk with her. When I did, she did not listen. Only after I persisted did she recognize we only submitted a claim for 3 specific elements. Subsequently she asked for more backup which is redundant with what I submitted online. My claim is being held up by her request for a British Air ticket invoice despite my submitting credit card statements showing my payment and any reimbursement from British.
She is denying me my rightful $14000 of travel insurance reimbursement.
I appreciated the price and knowing that I would be covered in the event of any emergency.
Everything was as excepted
I filed a claim within 2 weeks of completing my trip and received akgnowledgement email. However, 2 weeks later, I received an email asking me to submit the claim as if nobody saw the original claim. I have sounded saying I did so. I have not received any other communications since.
Abbi at Travel Insured International was amazing!
The policy purchase process was easy and mostly online. Everything else was downhill.
When it came time to file a claim due to a covered medical reason, I had to jump through multiple hoops just to get the claim filed. Especially the online portal was useless and broken every time I tried. I had to make an international call out of my own pocket to get the medical emergency notified and seek help.
During the medical emergency, the customer service staff was unable provide direct billing authorization to their own network provider in time despite being on the call with them for multiple hours and being assured it would be done soon and someone would call back. No one ever called me back. Ever. So again I had to pay the entire medical bill myself.
After yet another international call out of my pocket, a claim was filed finally with all the proofs requested given which included exhaustive identity and address proofs and all the medical reports and bills. After all that, the claim is still pending for more than 3 weeks without any explanation for the delay or request for additional information.
It’s been a terrible experience and I would not use this insurance provider or square mouth platform for any of my travel insurance needs in the future nor would I recommend to anyone else.
I suggest you have an option for insurance for two traveling partners on same trip, but who live in different states. Because that option was not available, and we were short on time to shop elsewhere, we each got a policy which cost us in total about 650.00, whereas had we resided in same state the cost would have been half. Totally unfair so cant recommend your site for that reason. Tks
I had a great experience working with Travel Insured International (and SquareMouth). When I was planning my trip, I knew that I needed to be ready to deal with any unforeseen circumstances. SquareMouth helped me find the correct policy, and Travel Insured International worked with me to customize it exactly to what I needed. When I first got the policy, I had not yet booked everything, but Travel Insured International made it very easy for me to add coverage as I booked additional segments of the overall trip. Fortunately, everything on the trip went well, and I never needed any help from the insurance. However, for future trips, I will definitely first stop at SquareMouth and Travel Insured International before comparing other rates.
Until the claim is complete, I don’t feel that it is right to comment.
