Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
Everything was great with our trip except when we arrived in Boston from Dublin, we found out that our flight home to Richmond, VA had been cancelled. At first, we were told it was weather, then we were told it was air traffic. After finally sorting our that we would be unable to fly home until the next day, I called Tin Leg to find out if we had any coverage before we decided to book a hotel room. I was told we would have $150 per person if the flight was delayed more than 6 hours which it was. That wouldn't cover a hotel in Boston, but it certainly was reassuring so we decided to book the hotel rather than spend the night in the airport. When I filed the claim, I was told air traffic was not a covered event with the insurance. I was also told the customer service representative said that it might not be covered. (I don't recall that, but she may have.) When I looked at the policy, it did not state that air traffic wasn't covered, but it also didn't state that it was. I thought purchasing travel insurance helped with flight issues that the airlines don't cover. Anyway, a disappointing outcome with our first travel insurance experience. I would have spent the night in the airport if I thought the hotel would be totally our expense.
Easy to buy. Straightforward.

If you traveled by road, please send in gas receipts showing travel to and from your destination during the insured dates. As soon as you provide those, we will gladly have the claims adjuster re-evaluate your claim. For any additional questions, please email your claim adjuster directly.
You ****** me the last insurance I bought so I don’t do business with you anymore.

So far, I am having a positive experience with Tin Leg in processing my claim. The customer service representative was very helpful in explaining the company’s policies.

Great coverage and customer support.
Very easy to compare coverage and purchase insurance. Also easy to communicate with when questions arise. I have filed one very small claim in the past with the intent of testing that process, and all went well. Experience with Tin Leg has led me to be a repeat customer.
Thankfully, I did not have to use the Tin Leg Insurance that I purchased for my 1 month overseas trip. It was reassuring to know I had coverage, though. The coverage was more than adequate and in some cases more than a competitor without being more expensive. I did not need to make a claim, so I cannot speak to that process.
I filed a small claim after my trip to Scotland. I had to go to a local clinic and get medicine. It turned out to be Lyme disease. I felt some of the documentation you requested was not necessary, but in the end you paid the claim and I’m very happy. I will use a Squaremouth on my next trip
