Tin Leg customers praise the provider’s customer service, especially when making changes to their coverage or trip details. However, some have expressed frustration with the claims process, particularly regarding the amount of documentation required.
I was unable to make my trip due to a surgery that I had to have and a long recovery period still going on. because the airlines gave me points for other flights your company would not reimburse e me for my flights. I am unable to use those flights because of my long recovery time. You made me take a lot of time getting 3 Dr.s to fill out forms which was very time consuming and still not getting back my $722.00 that I spent for flights. I will never use your company again and will never suggest that anyone use it. It was also impossible to even talk to a a live person. So disappointing for the amount of time I took in getting all of the information that you said you HAD to have.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. While your claim for hotel expenses was approved and paid on May 20th, we were unable to reimburse your flight costs because the airline issued flight credits. Travel insurance policies are designed to cover unrecoverable losses, so when an airline provides a credit, those funds are considered indemnified and cannot be reimbursed in cash. We understand this is not the outcome you were hoping for and apologize for the frustration caused by the documentation process. If you have any further questions, please reach out to your claim adjuster via email.
I had a non emergency issue when in Croatia. Called the customer service line, left a voicemail. Got a call back 2 days later. It would be helpful to have someone available 24hrs for non emergency issues for assistance.
Overall. Very happy with the coverage.
Needed to know how to get in touch w a doctor. TIn Leg explained to me how to get in touch, what I need in order to cancel a boat day - and what my options are.
I've had some difficulty uploading support documents to the claim form. Hertz and Delta are the two providers I used for the trip. I did forward emails from Hertz to the claims department, and hope they are able to use that as proof of my purchase and refunds.
The process and instructions were simple and easy to follow.
We received the check for my medical expenses in a timely manner.
We will be using Squaremouth again when we travel.
I really cannot complain about my interaction with a “person”.
Tin leg was great robin assist was aweful losing paperwork and mixing up claim numbers
Our European trip hit a bump when Paris experienced a 104F heat wave and our hotel's AC broke. One of the party suffered heat illness and had to get an ambulance to the ER, then IV fluids. They released him and said he needed to recover in a hotel with functioning AC or his illness would worsen. So as not to end a 2 week trip on day 2, we had to move to a new hotel and incur extra cost. Tin Leg denied a well documented claim as it did not end the trip then and there (which would have been far more costly to them than incremental hotel costs for a couple of days until we moved on). This makes no sense and does not take into account the medical part of the policy where emergency sickness will cover hotel cost. Very disappointed! Not choosing Tin Leg from the insurance options going forward.
I believe that I've used tin leg three times now maybe four. I will continue to use this company. I did file one claim and was promptly reimbursed.
It is impossible to file a claim. No matter what paperwork you send, then they want something else. I had a minor medical claim. I am on medicare which has no coverage outside the USA. They want me to sign a form that I have no medical insurance at all - this is not true. So I cannot get paid on the claim.
The insurance is useless.
