See how Seven Corners compares to other providers on Squaremouth in customer satisfaction and service quality:
*The overall customer rating is the average of all reviews for the provider since they joined the marketplace.
Customers appreciate Seven Corners’ responsive customer service, especially when helping them select the right policy for their trip. Many travelers highlight the helpfulness and availability of the support team. However, some mention frustrations with the time-consuming paperwork and long wait times for reimbursement during the claims process.
I had to cancel our trip for medical reasons. All my communication with Seven Corners was via email. They wanted additional information which I provided. I just received yesterday that the claim was approved. I submitted the original claim July 14th.
Well, I don't have much to say. I suppose that my satisfaction with this insurance company depends primarily upon how prompt they are in paying my out-of-pocket medical expenses in Kyoto. I needed $426 worth of medical clinic services in Kyoto, Japan for a UTI during an extreme heat wave.
At the time, I explained over the phone to the insurance agent that the day before my departure from Davis, California to Japan, I had my physician give me a physical and write me a letter for you about my then current medical condition. Furthermore, I had had an annual physical with his physician's assistant several months before departure, so I had no pending medical issues except daily pills to control blood pressure. (Needless the say, the blood pressure issue was not salient to the UTI issue.) He also gave me a list of my medications, should I need it in Japan. In any case, I brought 28 days of daily meds for my 28--day sojourn in Japan.
I made sure to go to the Kyoto clinic during regular office hours rather than wait for a weekend emergency situation to develop--in case the infection spread to my kidneys. It took four hours to get a lab result, an abdominal ultrasound, and a consultation in Japanese/ English translation. This clinic was listed online as the best medical provider for American tourists, and it happened to be within walking distance of my hotel. After the visit, my friend came to get me in a taxi.
When I was about to visit the Kyoto clinic, I called the insurance agent about how to make a claim. She said I should do so upon my return which was August 6th or so. As part of my claim, I intend to include paperwork indicating the above examinations and billing. I will probably write up my claim today sometime, August 13.
I have used Seven Corners twice. Didn’t need to make any claims, but the reviews and their policy made me feel confident I would be covered.
Claim was turned down. It was a small claim for a cancelled flight that caused an inconvenience but didn't ruin the trip. Nothing to get overly upset about.
Customer service representative gaveme a clear understanding about how CFAR policies work.
I decided not to file a claim after looking into the complications and detailed receipts necessary to do so. All but about $750 hotel costs and 2 days of missed experiences were covered by other parties in finding solutions to our travel problems!! Documenting the cancellation by American Airlines of our flight hours before our 5 AM initial departure and getting receipts for the missed days of our trip would be challenging. I finally reached Ameriacan Airlines and was rebooked for the next day, but that flight was delayed in Charlotte by mechanical problems so we missed the only connection to Kalispell MT for that day to join our group. Kalispell MT airport was closed the rest of the week for resurfacing runways so we ended up being flown to Missoula MT (after overnight in Chicago without luggage) and booking a private shuttle to Lake McDonald Lodge to join our group. American Airlines arranged the hotel overnight in Chicago and Thank Goodness our travel company, Natural Habitat Adventures, was extremely helpful in enabling us to join the group for the remainder of the trip after we missed the first 2 days.
Just like any Ins., they are trying to make it as difficult as possible to file a claim. Asking for ridiculous information that has nothing to do with the claim and making me sign up online to be able to upload documents that will not be attach to an email because it will be too big.
A lot of documentation was required for my cancellation claim, and it took me hours to provide it. I also had some difficulty with the online form, which choked on all my attachments. Still, nothing asked for was unreasonable. I received timely responses when I submitted my claim and the further documents that were requested. I really appreciated that there were live humans at the other end of the phone when I had questions. A decision was made on my claim quickly and I received my check promptly. I would purchase insurance from Seven Corners again.
I was extremely disappointed with my experience with Seven Corners. I purchased Seven Corners travel insurance for two separate trips, believing I would have reliable coverage and peace of mind if something went wrong.
Unfortunately, on my first trip, when I genuinely needed to make a claim because of a travel disruption, the experience was frustrating from start to finish. Instead of receiving the support I expected, I encountered delays, repeated requests for additional documentation, and a claims process that felt unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming.
What made it even more disappointing was that I had already purchased Seven Corners insurance for my second, much longer trip. Rather than giving me peace of mind, my experience with the first claim left me feeling anxious throughout that trip because I had lost confidence that the policy would provide the protection I thought I had paid for if something went wrong.
Communication was slow, and I often had to follow up myself just to find out what was happening. Overall, I was left feeling that the claims process was focused more on creating obstacles than on helping customers who had purchased insurance in good faith.
Based on my experience, I would not purchase travel insurance from Seven Corners again and would encourage others to carefully compare providers before making a decision. Travel insurance should provide reassurance when you’re away from home, but unfortunately, that was not my experience.
Helpful to date but I am nervous what the claim process will be. Hoping for no issues.
