Outstanding service! A customer-friendly application that was very easy to complete was especially helpful. And the policy documents were available immediately, which was ideal. The representative with whom I spoke was knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous. I have used Generali products for previous travel insurance needs and will continue to do so.
That's great to hear, Betty. At Generali Global Assistance, we value offering great customer service. We will share your feedback with our team. Thank you for your loyalty!
My husband had multiple micro-hemorragic brain bleeds before our scheduled trip. He was medically unable to fly and we cancelled the trip. I wrote Generali 4 days after the full refund cancellation date, asking if they would consider a full or partial refund. They never responded. The fact that they failed to reply was both negligent and dismissive. My actual rating for them is zero stars. While I have used the company in the past, I never will again. Nor would I recommend them to anyone.

I have had type 2 Diabetes for the past 30 years. For some years recently I have taken both oral medications plus daily insulin. I have had occasional mild low blood sugar events but none as serious as the one I experienced in the early morning hours when I was supposed to be taking a taxi to the airport to fly to the port where I was to start my 21 day cruise. My adult child found me incoherent, on the floor and barely able to move at 5:00 am. He started me on orange juice and checked my blood sugar, which was at 60 after the first cup. It took another couple of hours to get it over 100, by which time I had missed my flight. I was extremely tired and slept most of the day.
What I didn't realize was that the insurance would not pay my claim nor even consider it because I did not call for an ambulance nor did I go to my doctor. I did neither because my child and I both recognized that I was experiencing low blood sugar and knew how to handle it.
My doctor confirmed with Global that I had Type 2 Diabetes, treated with medication and insulin, and that I knew how to handle these rare events. She also confirmed that this was the most severe low blood sugar that I had ever had, with longer lasting effects than previous incidents.
But Global basically said if I didn't go in to see a doctor, I wasn't covered. $5000+ down the drain.

Promptly responded our claim for luggage damage.
Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, Eric. We're sorry to hear about your travel woes, but happy we were able to assist and pay your claim!
Our trip was delayed by a day due to the Lufthansa strike, so we weren’t able to use our first hotel night in Sardinia. By that point in time, the hotel cost was no longer refundable. After returning home, I spent half an hour submitting an online claim, and within a day and a half the cost of the lost night had been paid and deposited into my checking account.
Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, James. We're sorry to hear about your travel woes, but happy we were able to assist and pay your claim!
Good price and coverage. Thankfully, we didn't need to use it.
Thanks for your business, Rachelle . We hope you enjoy your trip!

Our claim is hopefully not closed. We are very unhappy with the response so far. We filled out the initial questionnaire and sent in the requested documents. We eventually received a second request asking for documents which were covered in our initial submission which suggests that no human had reviewed our application. We sent in a message and more documents explaining that Lufthansa had never provided us with documents regarding our flight changes because they were all made on line. We had provided proof of purchase and refund. We explained that after a lengthy process we were able to submit a request for a hard copy of the buy and cancel information and that Lufthansa said they have been busy because of their extended strike but said they would respond eventually. We told General this information and asked that our application remain open longer than the usual twenty days.
The bottom line is that we are very disappointed and would like to hear from someone who obviously has looked at our claim application. We would never consider using General again for our insurance needs.

The airline cancelled my flight shortly after I purchased it and refunded my money. I talked to claim personnel at your company and they made it impossible to retrieve my insurance money on the flight. I was so frustrated that I gave up and wrote down your company’s name to never use them again. It was out of my control that my trip was cancelled and I was misled that your company would not return the money I paid for the insurance.

The airline cancelled my flight 4 months before its departure so I wasn’t able to go on my trip and the airline refunded my full fair amount. The insurance I bought stated that in that situation I would be eligible for my insurance premium refunded. During the claim process they kept stalling my refunded asking for the same information over and over eventually not paying back my money. There is no way I would ever consider Squaremouth insurance in any of my future travels. I was told multiple times how they were going to refund my money only to ask for information they are ready had or could easily access themselves. I had to give them one star rating because that is the lowest option they offered but I would give them a way worse rating if possible.
